Constructive Solutions Inc. in partnership with the Global Environmental Fund Small Grants Program (GEF-SGP) and The United Nations Development Program hosted the final E-Waste Community Awareness Seminar under it Phase two of the Project “Developing Good Environmental Practices for Managing and Disposal of Hazardous Materials Found in E-Waste across, St Vincent and the Grenadines”.
The seminar was held on Tuesday 7th February 2017 at the Fisheries Complex Conference Room, Kingstown. In Attendance was newly appointed National Coordinator of GEF-SGP Ms. Tasheka Haynes who took the time to visit and share some insights on how to expand the program so more Vincentians can benefit from this critical environmental management education and best practices.
Other stakeholders present were partners in the Project Caribbean Youth Environment Network SVG Chapter, and donors Mashti Foods and Mary Raguette were represented.
The recipients said they learnt some new information about handling of discarded electronic waste that they will definitely take back to their offices and companies alike and would like us to be available to do more training for their specific staff.
Dr. Ashley John the project Coordinator and one of the presenters said, “This E-Waste projects now prepares for its final stage in this pilot project, where we would set up a temporary Collection Point Facility and then do a comprehensive report and feasibility study in collaboration with project consultants Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Livelihoods, COESL and Caribbean E-Waste Management Inc both based in Barbados.”
We will keep the general public fully aware of of all other activities that will be completed in the near future. This project is tentatively proposed to be completed by the end of March 2017.
