Local Hub Coordinators Constuctive Solutions Inc, for 54 hours teamed up with the Caribbean Climate Innovation Center (CCIC) and its global partners the Government of Canada\World Bank Group, InfoDEV, Cariri, and SRC; to host the first Caribbean Green Tech Boot Camp successfully here in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
“With 60 approved participants out of some 127 registrations, we knew there would be a huge challenge on our hands to train and get these entrepreneurial citizens ready for what would be a grueling time of swift planning and execution of innovative Green Tech Ideas that can be upscaled to operating enterprises.” Remarked an elated Dr. Ashley John.
From the get-go Dr. Ashley John Executive Director of C.S, Inc encouraged the participants to fully participate, get involved and make things happen as repeatedly mentioned during his brief remarks during the Idea Generation Session on Tuesday 28th November, the official opening ceremony on Thursday 30th November and as we brought down the curtains on this historic event on Saturday 02nd December at the closing ceremony. .
Participants were mostly made up of students from the Georgetown, Campden Park and Kingstown Technical Institutes also the SVG Community College Environmental and Green Engineering students at Villa. Few adults made up the balance of the sixty participants who bravely stuck until the very end.
“We at Constructive Solutions Inc. was so delighted to become partners with CCIC and be selected as the Country Hub Coordinators, to help bring to Vincentian entrepreneurial citizens; some much needed technical support to help ignite the process of startup Green tech Enterprises.
Why did we go this route, not to compete with any entity but to complement all National Efforts to help all of us gain a better quality life and a sustainable Livelihood using entrepreneurship as a viable option.”
The last 54 hours, we came, we worked hard according to Tameka Lee Admin\Monitoring and Evaluation officer of CCIC; as she rightly set the tone for the Boot camp to follow and this evening I want to say especially to you the participants, that life principles have not change, by the sweat of our brow you shall eat bread, if you get SERIOUS, make up YOUR MIND to put in the Hard Work, continue to build on all the steps you have learned over the week; you will achieve much.
But remember you cannot do it alone, we all need each other in this process to create viable green tech businesses; after all who will access our innovative products and services, Consumers, other human beings like us, therefore it is important that we daily demonstrate this, we at CSInc. are eternally grateful to all key persons who VOLUNTEERED they time to come and HELP all of you.
So with all of that help and support you received, we formed 10 teams, each with a green tech idea that is workable. As we come to a close of what has been a very historic 54 hours of Climate actions, we want all of you to know its not over, we will continue to work alongside you so that in the end all of us would have gained multiple benefits.
Let us develop that entrepreneurial mindset that says,
- “Stop waiting for things to Happen, go out and make them happen”
- I don’t think limits
- Don’t think about the start of the race think about the ending
- The impossible and possible end in determination” Usain Bolt…
‘Let us take advantage of the opportunities presented by climate action and lay the foundations for a more prosperous and secure future for all” Ban ki-Moon
On that note, go out the continue to get involved in climate change actions through Green Tech Solutions, make things happen and make some money while doing it.
Three winning teams emerged as a result of a vigorous pitching exercise, skillfully moderated by Ms. Javelle Frank and three judges; Joanna John, Al Blake and Dr, Ashly John.
