After the Noise, the Work Continues

There was a time in my life when the natural response to hardship was to run, to move on, start over, bury the pain, and keep walking. But I am no longer running. I’m standing.

Just two years ago, my name was dragged through the mud most viciously, defamed on social media by a member of the diaspora who claimed I had been deported for a crime against my own daughter. He didn’t just attack me; he worked hard to convince others to believe it. It was bitter, cruel, and calculated.

Yet here I am, back in Barbados, back in the place that raised me, schooled me, and gave me the early tools of my career until I discovered my greater purpose.

There is, indeed, a time for everything under the sun. And when the time is up, you know it, even if you wrestle with the adjustment. For me, the last season was one of exile and endurance. But this season is different. After months of “thawing out,” washing off the abuses and the lies, I feel renewed. Ready once again to produce.

That pause gave me unexpected wins. I completed my first book, Survival by Grace, and began two more. I had time, precious, irreplaceable time, with my daughter and grandsons, time I had sacrificed to serve others. And now, with those gifts secured, I move forward again.

SPCI has been refined. Our Ignite Programs are stronger. And now, DEEC: Developing Employable, Entrepreneurial Citizens, is stepping into the global space. One of my deepest goals is to continue working with young adults across Africa. I feel tethered to the motherland, and my obedience to that call is non-negotiable.

I am no longer just surviving bitter experiences. I am fulfilling purpose,  producing results, and creating a legacy. The noise has faded, the scars remain, but the mission is alive.

This is my check-in. This is what I am about. And this is why I will not stop.
