“The Caribbean islands are home to a diverse and culturally-oriented woman. These women have a sense of pride and their unique character is not easily found in any other parts of the world. Caribbean Women are great individuals, like every culture, there is diversity, and women always bring finesse, individuality, integrity, and their own uniqueness to the forefront.” Alexandra Daley

Today we get to introduce the world to one such woman.  In this edition of ‘Road To Victory” We feature “a Woman on the Rise” Sherry Williams, a native of the mountainous tranquil islands of St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Sherry once wrote how much she was missing her island, as she took some time out to do what many call “island hoping.”

In one of her social media post, Sherry reflected on what she enjoys most about life on the mainland SVG.

  • Up just after dawn to take on her duties as a momma, with “Jaiya” shouting out “maw-ning” in the distance.
  • Having her daily talks with mom, to help start and take her through the days…

  • The morning and evening exercise routine, jogging along, while the fresh Atlantic breeze flushes her entire physique, the rustic black sand beaches…
  • Walking by and stopping to shout out the seniors of the villages, chatting, reminiscing with her uncles about life…

  • Singing loud in the bathroom to her favorite music… those that get her in her feelings, “It only You” Ric Hassani” one of her top songs.
  • Snapping her mindblowing scenes, and feeling that rush of passion for her innovative photography while she prepares to dress those photos all up before she shares them with the world…
  • Designing an unusual building, or engrossed in figuring out programs accessible on her silver-gray laptop really works…

sherry8One would not imagine so much can happen in a day of the life of a young woman, but Sherry’s journeys are the testimony of a true fighter.

This is her, a mother, cousin, sister, and friend that is sought out by many, filled with tenacity, and resilience, but is a force to be reckoned with.

Sherry 2Sherry says she loves the uncommon jobs like getting her hands dirty in construction, she is an avid organizer, a do it your self, one-stop-kinda person, who knows how to master bargaining, especially during her shopping trips.

She is now picking up the pace once again, and her only child “Ah-Jaiya is also showing similar traits; already demonstrating brilliance and intelligence beyond her tender preschool age.

Gathering her thoughts and recharging is now her main focus, it has been truly a daunting task on this very vibrant woman who was only merely slowed down due to childbearing but remains relentless.

shery 6Who then is this “Woman on the Rise?” a mystery that outplays many. Sherry does not say much about herself, she is very conservative and protects her mind with strength and focus.

Having spent some time getting to know her, one would say she is multiskilled, loves a good creole joke;  yet a fierce lioness. While she is still working through the maze of her life, and adjusting to the recent changes in environments, Sherry remains determined to be the woman who God created her to be.

What really drives Sherry? … She has this unique touch to photography, family, aspiring entrepreneur, yet makes the time to love and capture nature in a most unique way.

sherry9Sherry says in a very strong passionate voice; “I hate the perversion on social media, not every time a woman posts a picture it means she is being seductive; you cannot even post a picture of you just in your feelings at that moment, without all these thirsty men just start-up in your inbox and in the comments, with there slackness, always about what they want to do with you as if you and them are company;  that’s not me, I’m not about it. Many may feel I enjoy the attention but, nope, I have what I need already, I’m not searching… nor am I looking, it’s not me alone anymore, I am working on my small family, especially ow I have my daughter, she is my greatest treasure I cannot and will not take any chances with any and anybody around us.”

As a “Woman on the Rise”, what does she wish to see, in the home, community, and nation? Sherry does not like to see people being treated unfairly, she is very passionate about any form of abuse and gender-based violence especially against women, she will cut you off in a flash if you seek to discredit or devalue any woman or child.

sherry10.jpgShe wants to see a well-managed community and nation, where opportunities are available to all across the board regardless of lifestyle, religious or political affiliation.

She Loves, God, the Church, and a daily morning devotion, but she is also very wary of “hypocrites” those who act and don’t do what they say, treat others badly but want to play all Holy, she says this burns her and she does not hesitate to call you out.

What bit of advise she has for other women on the rise? “Value yourself”, Sherry says and don’t let anyone devalue you. She strongly believes ” Don’t go losing yourself trying to please people…. your more than enough  and others should learn to value us individually and be very careful of false perceptions and wrong assumptions.”

Sherry is now in full gear on the “Road to Victory” and we at C.S.Inc wish her the absolute best in all her future endeavors.
