The Caribbean Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Livelihoods, in keeping with its mandate to help people use their resources or those available to them to make sustainable jobs for themselves using entrepreneurship and creating connections by building strong alliances with the public, academia, civil society, and the private\public sector which also helps to expand market access; has once again invited over fifteen partners from the Caribbean in collaboration with the Small Business Association of Jamaica to participate in the MSME Conference 2019.
For the second time, the Jamaica Small Business Association is hosting the MSME Conference in Kingston Jamaica from Monday, April 16-18, 2019, this year theme is “IMPROVING SUSTAINABILITY THROUGH RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT”.
This year the CoESl team will be led by Dr. Ashley C. John and Mrs. Shawna Rollins both Advisors of CoESl – Caribbean Center of Excellence for Sustainable Livelihoods, which is a regional developmental enterprise based in Barbados.
Bevenisha Moodie – Conference Coordinator says, “Planning for the Caribbean MSME Conference is progressing steadily but you can imagine the many moving parts that have to be managed as we draw closer to the conference date.
One of the highlights of this Conference is the B2B event which will involve a great deal of preliminary work exploring and connecting businesses even prior to the event. We want our participants to obtain maximum benefit and optimize this connector event as much as possible.’
The Small Business Association of Jamaica (SBAJ) announced that attendees of the upcoming Caribbean MSME Conference are in for 3 days of networking and business building opportunities; President of the SBAJ, Hugh Johnson, explained,
“We started this Caribbean wide event to bring the regional small business sector into the spotlight and to offer an opportunity for linkages across the islands and the sectors. One of the highlights of the conference will be the “Business2Business” day in which smaller enterprises will be introduced to their larger counterparts for mentorship, product demonstrations, and sales opportunities. At the SBAJ, we are committed to the growth of the sector and this Conference is our major outreach initiative.”
Dr. Marcia Brandon, Chief Entrepreneurial Expert\founder of COESL says, “she hopes that all entrepreneurs will benefit tremendously and will add significant value to the conference, as we continue to work to build the Caribbean sustainably.’
THE 2019 CARIBBEAN MSME CONFERENCE AIMS TO:
- Facilitate exposure to new trends in business development and management.
- Promote success stories among MSMEs.
- Examine MSME policy within a context of macro-economic strategy and its impact on business profitability.
- Provide a forum for B2B interaction to explore opportunities for national, regional and international business collaboration/linkages.
- Expose participants to new technologies and research and development in agriculture as well as climate-smart innovation.
